I studied Physical Therapy at the Hogeschool Enschede, the Netherlands, between 1995 and 1999. In 2002, I graduated cum laude from the Catholic University Nijmegen, the Netherlands with a master’s degree in Biomedical Health Sciences (major in Human Movement Sciences). In 2007, I won the Mario Boni Award in recognition of the best scientific paper presented at the EORS 2006 in Bologna, Italy. I’m currently working as a post doctoral research fellow.

Regenerative medicine and tissue engineering using smart scaffolds (biomaterials), growth factors and cells. My current research is mainly focused on cartilage- and meniscus tissue using anisotropic scaffolds.
