Starting February 1st 2018, Prof. Verdonschot is appointed Scientific Director of the TechMed Centre at Twente University. He will be working there for 3 days a week, in principle he will work in Nijmegen on Monday and Wednesday, but this may vary considerably. Prof. Verdonschot will remain head of the ORL. We will re-distribute the workload in terms of supervision.

The Executive Board has appointed Scientific Directors for two of the three new research institutes that opened at the University of Twente on 1 January 2018. Prof.dr.ir. Maarten van Steen will be the new Scientific Director of the research institute for Digital Society. Prof.dr.ir. Nico Verdonschot will be the new Scientific Director of the TechMed Centre research institute. These appointments, which are for a term of four years, will both take effect on 1 February 2018.

The TechMed Centre is formerly known as the MIRA institute and it combines fundamental and applied research with clinical practice. The TechMed Centre works closely with hospitals, the business community and governmental organizations.
