About me

During my Master’s degree in Medical Engineering at the Technical University of Eindhoven, I specialized in medical image analysis, machine learning, and computational modeling in the field of orthopaedic biomechanics. My primary focus and interests lay in creating clinical tools to optimize surgical processes and outcomes. In January 2025, I began a PhD position at the Orthopedic Research Laboratory (ORL) and Sint Maartenskliniek, under the supervision of Dennis Janssen (ORL) and Petra Heesterbeek (SMK).

My research

My research focuses on optimizing the outcomes and longevity of revision total knee arthroplasties (rTKA), a surgical intervention for treating advanced knee osteoarthritis. rTKA has a high risk of failure, often due to implant loosening. Effective bone repair using augments, as well as the fixation of the new implant, are crucial for improving long-term success. There are several decisions to be made regarding bone augmentation techniques and fixation methods. My research aims to develop a decision tool that recommends patient-specific approaches. These approaches will be clinically evaluated in collaboration with the Sint Maartenskliniek.
