Interns

My name is Jade Krijnen, a fifth-year Medical and Biomedical Sciences student at Radboud University. Over the next 20 weeks, I’ll be joining the Orthopedics Department as a bachelor intern. My research focuses on exploring weight-bearing dynamic CT to better understand how specific movements and loading conditions can distinguish ACL-injured knees from healthy ones. This project aims to provide insights that could improve diagnostics and treatment options for ACL injuries. I’ll be daily supervised by Erin Teule and Miriam Boot.

I live and study in Nijmegen and I like to read or watch my favourite sitcoms 🙂  I’m excited to be part of the team and look forward to contributing to this innovative field!

I am Fleur Derks. I study biomedical engineering at the University of Twente. The coming months I will be doing my internship at the orthopedic research lab. I am going to work on the MyLeg project and my supervisor is Nico Verdonschot. Since Vera Kooiman is mainly helping me, I will also be spending some of my time at rehabilitation. In my free time I enjoy playing the trumpet and the guitar and I like playing games with friends.

My name is Barbara Camarin, and I am a Biomedical Engineering master’s student from the University of Twente, originally from Italy. I came to Radboud UMC for an interesting project. The project aims to optimize a novel method combining ultrasound and motion capture to study tibiofemoral joint kinematics. My work will involve developing an algorithm to automatically detect bone peaks, which are currently identified alongside other tissues by the ultrasound and selected manually. My assignment will last 9 months.
Outside of my studies, my biggest passion is horse riding, which I’ve practiced since I was a child. I own a horse named Faris, and we mostly do show jumping together. I’m also an animal lover, and I have a dog and a cat back home. In my free time, I enjoy reading fantasy, watching movies, running, and going out for an aperitivo or pizza with friends. When I have time off or a long break, I love visiting new places around the world and experiencing different cultures.
